ABOUT HIRAM BINGHAM
ABOUT HIRAM BINGHAM
Hiram Bingham offers a broad and balanced curriculum which is based on the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate. The curriculum focuses not only on academic excellence but also on the formation and development of skills and attitudes such as communication skills leading to the ability to receive and express ideas effectively, thinking skills which develop the ability to think creatively and critically, the ability to explore and enquire, and a wide range of further skills which are central to developing the maximum level of the students personal and academic potential.
Hiram Bingham is divided into two sections, each with its own Head, but under one Headmaster. The two sections, the Primary School and the Senior School both share a common philosophy based on the International Baccalaureate whilst at the same time reflecting a British International culture. Through having a common philosophy the school ensures educational and academic continuity, articulation and coherence.
In the Primary School, Curriculum teams led by the Primary Years Programme Coordinator in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinator plan and monitor the subject content and the PYP Units of Inquiry alongside the Grade Tutor.
In the Senior School the Middle Years Programme Coordinator and IB Diploma Coordinator are responsible for monitoring the MYP and IB Diploma programmes whilst subject coordinators are responsible for the effective implementation of the programmes in the respective subject areas of English, Spanish, French, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Humanities, Sports and the Creative Arts. All curricular programmes are under the direction of the Director of Studies.
